Molecular cloning is a collection of experimental methods used in molecular biology to assemble recombinant DNA molecules and to direct their replication within host organisms.A molecular cloning reaction is typically comprised of two components which are the DNA fragment of interest to be replicated (the insert) and a vector or plasmid backbone that contains all of the components for replication in the host. The DNA fragment of interest usually has to be amplified by PCR before it can be cloned into the expression vector. There are several different methods used for cloning PCR products and PCR Biosystems offers a wide range of DNA polymerases to best suit your cloning experiment, including standard PCR (both 3’A and blunt end), high fidelity PCR and speciality PCR, such as the amplification of long amplicons or GC-rich targets.
