Internship Day at PCR Biosystems

We were proud to host Noah on his internship day at PCR Biosystems HQ in London this week. Here’s what Noah had to share about his experience with us:

“Internship Day – 26th August 2025 – PCR Biosystems

Goal: To learn about marketing specifics , advertising/sales, how to make social media content for a scientific company and to understand the science behind the products PCR Biosystems sells.

I met Tahmid in the car and, while we rode up to London, he asked me about my interests and whether I had any social media experience with making videos. I told him about my YouTube channel and how I make predominantly gaming videos. I also told him how a few years ago I did some short form content for my channel. When we got to the office, Tahmid gave me a tour of the office space, including the labs and all the specialised PCR equipment, which I found very interesting.

While waiting for Costa, Tahmid told me about the type of content they produce which is a mixture of scientific and fun content. Additionally, he talked to me about email journeys and showed me… the software used to send promotions and confirmations via email. He also told me about the optional marketing cookies they collect in order to gain information that could influence their marketing strategy. I learnt about CRMs and their email integration … (how they store and manage their many contacts).

Later, we went into the lab where we filmed some long form content about different reagent mixes, which was focused on being educational, as well as some short form, which was educational but more advertising oriented. I learnt about different types of “hooks” for social media and that the first three seconds of the video was the most important due to peoples’ short attention span. Tahmid also explained about the optimal camera settings for filming different types of content.

Costa then gave me an in depth explanation of the product and the denaturing and amplifying cycles, and using a melt curve to find primer dimers. After this, we took a break and then went into more detail of the logic of the email journeys which used boolean logic to decide what specific journey to send the customers on.

Finally, I watched Costa and Tahmid talk about their Google and LinkedIn ad campaigns and learned how Google charges for advertising. I learned about the different audiences on different platforms …

Overall, I had a great day and very much enjoyed learning from Tahmid and Costa. I have been inspired to restart my YouTube channel where I will try and apply the skills I have learned.

Takeaways:

  • Practical understanding of CRM systems and email automation.
  • Knowledge of video content creation, including hooks, pacing, and camera settings.
  • Insights into PCR technology and its relevance in marketing communication.
  • Understanding of advertising campaign structures across TikTok, LinkedIn, and Google.
  • Awareness of how audience type influences content strategy and sales potential.”

We’re always happy to give the next generation an idea of how they might use their creativity and skills. Noah’s insightful questions also made us stop and think in the clearest terms what our goals and values are as a company. Thank you, Noah!
