Why choose lyophilisable or air-dryable qPCR mixes?

Whereas traditional ‘wet’ reagent formulations require cold storage, dry formats circumvent the need for cold chain storage and shipping, and instead allow for handling at ambient conditions, while offering increased flexibility in sample input volume.

Lyophilisation (or lyophilization) can be a challenging process. Not least because traditional ‘wet’ reagent mixes cannot be freeze-dried due to the lyophilisation-incompatible compounds that they contain, such as glycerol. To help overcome this hurdle, we’ve developed our lyo-ready mixes to include a glycerol-free 4x qPCR mix and a blend of excipients to preserve the mixture throughout the drying process.

For further flexibility we also offer an air-dryable 4x 1-step RT-qPCR mix, which can be dried down in a standard laboratory oven. Achieve the benefits of dried qPCR assays, while allowing for even more streamlined drying processes, without the need for expertise in lyophilisation and corresponding equipment.
